How do investors make money using climate policies?

Carbon trading has become a big money-maker for some investors. CO2 emissions are traded like other commodities, and trading can allow companies to earn “carbon neutral” status without actually reducing their emissions at all. Other investments are made in climate change insurance sales, a fairly new area of insurance. Climate policies that involve developing new power plants and infrastructure also mean contracts for developers, and money for companies inventing new technologies.
