Green roofs are great and can absorb storm water, helping to relieve backed up storm pipes and drains. Additionally, eco-roofs can help reduce greenhouse gases and act as insulators for buildings, making them more energy efficient. They also last about three times as long as traditional roofs.

To start you can apply for grants to get the money to build a green roof. Also, a lot of roofers now build new roofs with green material, just call your local roofer and ask.
