The best thing that you can do is to contact your local township/ community center. A lot of townships have programs set up to dispose of hazardous waste like gasoline directly in the jurisdiction of the township. If not, they will still have contacts for you about where to take it because there is always a company either public or private relatively local that is set up to take old oil and gasoline. Most of the places will be free, though some may require a fee to take your gas, though it is far less than the fines that you would get trying to dispose of it illegally.
One thing you should never do is to pour it out on the ground or down the drain. It is highly toxic and will put the environment in a world of hurt. One of the things you could do is re-use it, by filtering it, then using one part of old gas for every five parts of regular gasoline. If you feel like getting rid of it, contact your fire department, as they will know what to do with it.
You can use the site below – simply type in “Gasoline and Unwanted Fuels”, along with your zip code, and you will be given a list of nearby places that will accept your gasoline.
Contact your municipality or go online and google your town or city and recycle gasoline. It will come back with a location the gas can be dropped off. There may be just one or two days a week the depot is open, so read all the info offered.
