Giving a child regular household tasks and chores instills a strong work ethic and teaches the child how to contribute to the needs of a group, skills that will prove very important later in life.  Learning how to cooperate with a group on a series of shared tasks will serve a child very well in most aspects of her adult life, in the workplace or in her relationships with others.
