Unfortunately, food goes bad if it is not kept refrigerated. Grocery stores have to keep their refrigeration units running at night. However, there are some things they can do to make their refrigerators more energy efficient, such as raising the temperature but lowering the air velocity.
Grocery and other food stores leave refrigerators on overnight. Food will go bad if it is left out and refrigerators also tend to take a long time to re-cool if they are turned off, which explains why more stores do not condense the food as much as possible.
