How do gas stations protect against fire?

Gas stations may have fire suppression systems mounted above the pumps, as described in the link below. Canopy fire suppression systems are specially designed for outdoor environments, including windy conditions.

The nozzles on the gas pumps may be fitted with rubber shields to seal off the car’s fueling port, minimizing the risk of spilling gasoline. These shields are usually seen on newer pumps.
