Most lakes turn over in the fall. A tale tell sign is when you smell something that’s like rotten egs and sometimes you can see decaying particles in the water. So this is how it affects the fish. When a lake turns over the cold, deep water mixes with the warm surface layer and the thermocline (water level between the surface and deep water) disappears. The shallow fish are more than often fine, but the deep water fish get “stressed”. Sometimes you can see the fish with sore and a bit skinnier apparently.
