How do farmers in dry climates store water for irrigation?

There are a few modes of water storage for farmers in dry climates. For one, farmers can dig for groundwater. A better option is for farmers to find or manufacture ponds within which to store water. This is a highly effective and easy way to collect rainwater; it is also cheaper than digging for groundwater.
