How do electrical appliances contribute to global warming?

  1. 0 Votes

All electrical appliances consume a certain amount of energy. The more they are plugged in and turned on the more energy they consume. Some appliances, like Energy Star appliances, are more energy efficient than others. The electricity powering the appliances comes from a power plant. In many cases this electricity is generated by the burning of fossil fuels like coal, natural gas, and oil. The burning of fossil fuels, especially in these mass quantities, is the driving force of increasing atmospheric concentration of CO2. These carbon emissions are the anthropogenic force behind climate change/global warming.
