Dirt bikes can cause erosion and compaction on the trails they ride on. They also increase sedimentation of surrounding streams and can damage fragile ecosystems, and can spread invasive weeds, through the spreadin of seeds that would normally not be spread. This is all partially due to the dust that flies up from the trail as the dirt bike progresses on the trail.
I absolutely agree. Its pretty clear if you look at a dirt bike or other off-road vehicle trail, that they quickly change an area. But mountain bikes and horses also can damage a trail and/or ecosystem by spreading invasive seeds and cutting into the trail.
