how do chimps wean their young?

Often they’ll start substituting other high-protein foods as they begin to wean the chimp. A popular choice is bone marrow, and a mother chimp will break open the bones, and let her young eat the marrow. Usually, like most, the mother will simply not allow the young to nurse as much, then very little till none at all, over a span of time, and she will integrate other food into the young’s diet.
