Bulldozers can rather quickly ravage an environment, in much more forceful and permanent ways than other land clearance or agricultural methods involving items like plows and hoes. Bulldozers can destroy the topsoil, leaving un-fertile land where plant life isn’t able to take hold and flourish. Completely clearing large tracts of land without leaving some green space – an easy thing to accomplish with a bulldozer – poses threats to native species, sometimes leaving them without homes or food. Clearing all vegetation also removes natural protection from elements like the wind, sunlight, and rain.
