How do architects make a building better for the environment?

Architects make a building more green by utilizing designs that maximize energy efficiency by using natural heat by the sun to heat and cool buildings. Materials used are usually recycled wood and other materials in which the sources are not taken from natural reserves that are important to climate change and ecosystem balance. The concept is that buildings by themselves are sustainable units with low emissions and using space as a way to save energy and maximize efficiency.
