There are a variety of ways that animals store water in the desert; different animals have different mechanisms to obtain their water. One example is a camel’s hump, which allows the camel to store water in its own body. Burrowing animals, however, can retain water by staying underground in moist soil during the hot daytime hours. Then, animals can obtain water from the foods they eat. Cacti and other desert plants store water, which animals can use to supply their water needs. These are just some examples of how animals store and obtain water in the desert. There are other methods too.
