The equator was first utilized in 1349 and was found by Thomas Neale.  The equator is an invisible line that is the centerpoint of our latitude and is the point from which all lines of longitude are measured.  It is equidistant from both poles and perpendicular to the world’s axis of rotation.  This invisible line divides the globe into Northern and Southern Hemisperes and within 20 degrees, maintains all of the world’s rainforests.
