How did the rock formations at Garden of the God in Colorado Springs form?

The Garden of the Gods is a sedimentary rock formation which means it is not easy to pinpoint an exact age of the formation. Instead it was created over a very long period of time starting in ancient times. Through a process called lithification, sediments compile in a certain area due to wind or water erosion and eventually turn into rocks. These majestic rocks consist primarily of red and white sandstone, conglomerates, and limestone. Even though these famous rock formations such as the Kissing Camels and Balancing Rock seem to be permanently set in stone, they are still constantly changing.
