How did Norman Rockwell use photography in his artwork?

    He hired photographers to take scenes that he directed, starring his neighbors and community members in the town he lived in, then traced and/or copied the photographs.  He considered himself an illustrator, rather than an artist, and his paintings are still beloved today.
