How did the Little Ice Age affect crops worldwide?

There is evidence that the Little Ice Age made it more difficult to grow crops worldwide than would have otherwise been the case.  Norse colonies in Greenland eventually perished because as the winters became harsher, they were less and less able to grow the necessary amount of crops.  In the late 17th century there was not enough wheat for bread to feed many of the poor in Europe and this was also due to the very harsh winters.
