How did denmark get their funding for their offshore wind project?

Denmark is a Social Democracy, which means Danes pay a lot more taxes than we do in the U.S. Income taxes are between 30% and 60%, and sales taxes are very high too. This means that there is much greater government funds to use on projects such as their offshore wind project. While Danes pay very high taxes, they enjoy a number of benefits including: free college education, 12 month maternity leave, free daycare, socialized health care, etc.
