How did astrology start?

Astrology dates back to Mesopotamia, where early civilizations studied the night sky and began naming constellations around 3000 BC.  There the Babylonians discovered/created the zodiac (the 12 constellations), connecting the stars with times of the year and Gods.  The Greeks further developed the zodiac and astrology as well as astronomy.  Astrology existed in India as early back as 1000 BC, and the Greeks later introduced the Western version.
