After World War II, the US Government invested a lot of money into researching new technologies. Machines and vehicles were cheaper to produce and lasted longer. Because of this, farmers saved money; they did not have to hire as many helpers as in the past and the machines and vehicles used in farming were much more cost effective.
Also fueling this rise in agriculture were the various companies advertising and producing agricultural products, such as tractors of various shapes and sizes.
