How dependent are we on oil?

37% of our energy cunsumption is oil based, and the U.S.A has by far the highest per capita oil use for any country in the world. The U.S. is entierly too dependant on oil (particualrly foreign oil) to continue using it like we do. Over the next few years, expect to see the renewable energy and nuclear energy %s grow.

The United States has the capacity to be completely independent of oil. However, if the price of oil remains low, change will not happen anytime soon. There is a lot of money in and a lot of jobs dependent on the oil industry, and when oil prices are low, alternative energy suffers.
