How deep do you have to dig to use geo-thermal tech?

How deep you need to dig depends on your particular region. Wells can range from 60 feet to 3000 feet in depth. The depth is going to depend on the geology of the region and what sort of temperatures you want. For example, you may need to dig deeper to get high temperatures for electrical generation (>100 degrees Celsius) than you would if you are using it for heating and cooling, where you want temperatures closer to room temperature.
