Well water comes from underground aquifers that lay hidden underground until drilled into. The depth of your well depends on how deep underground these aquifers are. How deep they are is just a matter of geology. In short, different wells in different areas have big differences in depth. Some are as shallow as 100ft, some as deep as 1,00ft, but for private wells, 300ft is usually enough for ample water.
