How could decreased spending on food be linked to an increase in healthcare spending?

A decreased spending on food may be directly related to individuals buying less healthy meals (which tend to be more expensive) and more cheap, fast food. Eating poorly can lead to many health issues including heart attack, stroke, cancer, diabetes and obesity, which in turn needs to be addressed medically, increasing the amount of money spent on healthcare.
