Since it is part of the overall EU plan to reduce carbon emissions by 30% of 1990 levels, it will depend on the efforts of other EU countries as well as Denmark’s. Given Denmark’s history of growth while keeping its energy consumption constant, its thriving renewable energy sector, and plans to further expand their already expansive wind power sector (19% of total electricity production), one thing seems clear: if the EU fails to meet its goal, it will be no fault of Denmark’s.
