Hoboken, New Jersey is making car-free very enticing.  The program is called, “Surrender Your Permit,” and is aimed at parking and transportation challenges.  Hoboken’s officials have created a Hop shuttle system, the first city wide car-sharing program in the nation, multi-space meters, expanded bike facilities, and improved pedestrian safety.  Anyone surrendering his / her permit will receive a list of “rewards.”  Some of these enticements include, a free specialized bike helmet, eco-friendly shopping bay, technical running socks, pedometer, six months unlimited Hop shuttle pass, and free bike commuter training session to name a few.
