China has pledged to cut its carbon emissions, relative to the size of its economy, up to 45% by 2020. As China’s industries become more advanced its carbon footprint will be curbed by more sophisticated technologies. As of 2009 China had tripled its goals for wind energy production.
Though even if China achieves its reduction goals, the fact that the nation grows by 8% a year, will push China’s carbon emissions to 75-95% more than the levels were in 2005.
