How is Chevy recycling the Gulf Oil spill for car parts?

Chevy is planning to use boom that aided in the Gulf oil spill on their Volt vehicle. Boom is plastic tubing that was used in the Gulf to contain the oil and prevent it from reaching the shore.

Of the 2,500 miles of boom that was used during the oil spill, Chevrolet plans to use 100 miles for parts in the fuel-efficient electric car. The parts the boom will be used to create will deflect air around the Volt’s radiator.
