Mountain lions average between 75 and 150 lbs, while bobcats average between 15 and 30 lbs. Basic logic tells us that the Mountain lion’s is going to be larger. Mountain lions, or Cougars, will deposit their scat in the middle of trails and dirt roads. Cougar scat is similar to that of the bobcat but it will be noticeably thicker. They can be over an inch in diameter It may appear to be full of deer hair and might contain undigested parts of hooves. The presence of hair, bones and teeth is common in both. They will sometimes scrape together a pile of debris and urinate or defecate on it. The Peterson Field Guide to Animal Tracks list Bobcat scat at 4 inches and cougar scat at 9 inches
