European starling (also known as common starlings) are different from other similar birds in several ways. They are most similar to the blackbird and are almost exactly the same size, and both have similar colored plumage. One way to spot a European starling from a blackbird is that they will have long slender beaks and the males’ beak will be bright yellow in the summer. They also have very short tails compared to other birds. Additionally, Their wings are more triangular and pointed looking.
