You cannot tell from their physical appearances, since oscar fish are monomorphic (females and males look identical). However, you can tell that an Oscar fish is a female if it is laying eggs. Also, when a male is ready to mate, its sexual organ will jut out.
Thanks for your imput. I have 2 Oscars that laied eggs and breeded the eggs. Out of all the “baby” fish I have only a couple left now. I thought you would be able to tell on there fin size or the more colourful they are the most likely they might be male. Hope I sold them all off in couples. Thanks again.
