How can we tell if a propane tank is leaking?

  1. 0 Votes

Propane tanks should be checked for leaks by a professional under any of the following conditions:

    • If you smell gas
    • If the tank has run out. Pressure should be kept in the tank at all times
    • If the tank has dents, rust or bubbles.
    • If the tank makes a “hissing” sound

The “hissing” sound may not always indicate a leak. Check to see if the relief valve is activating or if the bleeder valve is closed.

If you suspect there is a leak, have a professional check and service your tank.
