How can we take care of pine trees after they have been infected by the pine beetle?

There are different kinds of pine beetles, including the mountain pine beetle, and the southern pine beetle.

Colorado State University Extension suggests covering, burning, or peeling the attacked trees, which will apparently kill the beetle.

For the southern pine beetles, the U.S. Department of Agriculture suggests treating with lindane or chlorpyrifos.

Also, check out the Southern Pine Beetle Internet Control Center for more information.
