How can we protect trees from pollution?

Trees do not need to be protected from most types of pollution that we are concerned with, since they actually use CO2 for food. The type of pollution we need to protect our trees from are types that will affect their soil and water sources, such as watching chemical dumps in soil / water areas and making sure acid rain is under control. Any type of pollution that will taint a treees food sources (soil and water mainly) can cause harm to trees.
