The simplest way seems to be by offering some benefit. Often we take on a negative reinforcement style of behavior modification. However, by offering incentivized (monetary) breaks to companies it is usually easier to get them to see the light. Often companies can come to be greener by reducing inefficiency. Waste in all its forms is obviously harmful to everyone involved therefore reducing waste would be beneficial to a number of cohabiting things, including the company. Outside of making them see a benefit and it having a large enough return for them there is only government regulation usually – in this arena – mandated by the masses. In short we are and have for a long time been trying to persuade companies to reduce pollution in one form or another and much more often than not simple persuasion must give way to formal law.
