How can we make sure that the large oil companies have nothing to do with new legislation?

I believe the best way to accomplish such an ambitious task as this is to push for 100% transparency in business transactions and funding. If a group or a government individual is sponsored by a party with conflicting interest, such as a big name in oil, it could be a form of bribery. For example, a politician is pushing for new legislation restricting the use of oil in new models of cars. Then, their campaign begins receiving funds from the largest oil company in the US, and they suddenly change their mind or vote differently. This happens all the time, and the best way to prevent it from happening is to make funders public so the US knows who is behind each deal or decision. Then, we as a public can decide if a politician or a deal is corrupt or not what it appears to be.
