A simple solution is to buy a water heater blanket for your existing hot water heater. They are inexpensive, available at all home improvement stores and easy to install also keep your water heater set at 120 degrees. If you are upgrading your system there are several options as well. You could go with a tank-less water heater. This way you only heat the water that you are using, not heating the water in the tank all day while you are at work. You could also install a solar water heater. Depending on where you live you may need to pair it with a regular hot water heater. They are nearly 100% efficient at heating the water although they are best for heating pools because you don’t need to heat your pool in the winter when you aren’t using it anyway.
