The growing field of geoengineering incorporates various novel concepts and ideas from scientists that aim to reduce the effects of global warming. All kinds of wild ideas are taken seriously in the realm of geoengineering- proposals like filtering greenhouse gases out of the air, and shading the Earth from the sun. One scientist proposed spraying a mist of sulfuric acid high in the stratosphere. This would create sulfate aerosol particles, which would act as little tiny sun shades for Earth. Scientists have even discussed using reflectors, such as a mesh aluminum shade, hung up in space to reflect the sun’s heat away. At this point there seem to many potential options for responding to global warming.
