The simplest solution is to simply not buy food produced on factory farms. Reducing eating meat entirely, specifically looking for meat that has been certified free range or organic (or both), and trying to get your meat from local sources where you can visit the farm are all good ideas. You can also lobby your state or even national representatives on this issue, asking for increased regulations to give animals grown on factory farms more space, preventing unecessary surgeries, and similar issues.
There are a few options. You can stop eating meat from factory farms, or stop eating meat period. You can join organizations and fight for legislation protecting the rights of animals on factory farms as well.
