It seems that the only way we can get rid of contamination in lakes is by not developing cities next to them. According to http://www.great-lakes.net when people tend to settle near a lake eutrophication takes place. Eutrophication is when there is an increased growth in biological matter do to the increase in “nutrient loading.” This alone disturbs the natural balance of the ecosystem and not to mention other pollutants that find their way into the lake either from boats, factories, or people enjoying the beach.
