You can burn peat for heat energy as you would wood. Peat can also be used to generate electricity and was for a period in the 1960’s the source of over 40% of Ireland’s energy production.
Peat can be burned for fuel once it is dried. It is usually sold commercially in dried briquettes, similar to charcoal. It is harvested for fuel in Ireland and Finland on an industrial scale.
