To log sustainably, trees have to grow as fast as they are cut down. Companies should make an effort to plant two or three trees for every tree they cut down in order to do this. At current rates, logging is not sustainable. The best thing to do would be to lower demand for wood, because when there’s demand, there’s a profit to be made, and logging will continue. If more people go paperless this is conceivable. Otherwise, lobbying for more logging regulation is probably the best way to go about making logging sustainable. Contact your representative and tell them why you care about this.
