How can we get back glaciers that have melted because of global warming?

The only way for that to happen is for the global warming trend to reverse. As the global warming is regulated by the concentrations of greenhouse gases, their levels would have to fall back significantly. Currently, they are growing, and not just growing but accelerating (growing faster and faster). So, the humankind would have to reduce the emission of carbon dioxide (and other greenhouse gases) to such a point that its concentration in the atmosphere is actually falling. But even then it would take a long time to lower it sufficiently. Just to note, even with the most optimistic and ambitious current “green” initiatives, we would level out the production of carbon dioxide, but won’t be anywhere near the point where more CO2 is absorbed than emitted.
