Probably the best way to do this is to change American food culture. Nutritionally, we don’t need as much meat as we consume, but our food culture demands that we eat large quantities with every meal. This change in culture would in turn change the cattle diet because one of the chief reasons that they are fed grain (which is not their natural diet) is that grain fattens them up more and more quickly. With decreased demand for meat farmers would be able to raise cattle in more sustainable ways and allow the cows to graze naturally on grass.
