How can we contain toxic coal waste?

Coal waste is being contained by using clean coal technology. The coal is turned into a gaseous hydrocarbon and that gas is used as the fuel itself. The carbon dioxide and other toxic chemicals are siphoned off from the fuel and is sequestered and contained by itself. The captured CO2 is stored underground in natural gas wells, and will return to the rock as it is stuck in the well. For as great a development as this is, it is nowhere near a solution to our growing energy crisis.
