How can we communicate through microwaves?

Microwaves are like radio signals only with much smaller wavelengths. They are often transmitted through an antenna. Microwave transmission is transmitting information over those signals. There is some concern over whether or not these are harmful, since they are a form of radiation, though the levels used when transmitting through phones or microwave ovens used are believed to be safe.
