How can we clean ocean water once it gets polluted?

This sounds almost too good to be true, but China recently introduced a device called the WatCleaner, a floating robotic device that has the capability to mop up oil, collect and disintegrate garbage, and transmit information to land-based operators in instances of a job being “too big to handle”. There are many techniques for clean-up of oil spills: containment and removal through skimming, filtering, or combustion; dispersal into smaller, less damaging droplets; natural or artificial biodegradation; and, simply counting on movements of the tides and waves to eventually disperse it.
