We could encourage the expanded use of “Guerrilla Film Making”. In general, Guerrilla films use much less resources than typical hollywood movies do, although there is usually some compromise in production values.
We could incorporate some kind of standard, similar to building standards like LEED, that movie studios could aim to achieve to get a seal or certification showing that they are doing more green practices. We could make this a desirable thing for studios to do by attaching incentives like advertising spots specifically for movies and studios that have this certification.
Reducing waste in general. The film industry is a huge consuming force in and of itself. As a result, it needs a lot of resources to operate. Perhaps using more fuel-efficient vehicles for transporting cast, crew and equipment would be one step in the right direction.
