Super markets can reduce refrigeration costs a few ways. All refrigerators should be in an open and close case with doors on the wall, not in an open container built into the floor like many have. This way, the cold air is not constantly leaking out, it is instead being kept inside the cooler most of the time and only gets released when opened. Another way would be to make sure the cooling unit is well maintained and complies with local standards for things like emissions etc.
